SONIA'S STORY

Sonia was rescued when she was just 5 years old. Beginning at the age of 4, her parents allowed men to pay them in exchange for sex with their young daughter. When Sonia was rescued she was suffering from malnutrition, a lack of hygiene, and had not attended school. Sonia’s parents, both of whom struggled with addiction, failed to register her at birth which meant, legally, Sonia had no identity. Since being rescued, Sonia has shown great improvements in her behavior at The Garden House, but sometimes has trouble trusting others and herself. As she works through therapy she is now thriving in school, gaining self-confidence and is seeing herself as valued.
